[Ah, true to Serah's form, throwing her arms around her in a hug... She accepts it with a tiny surprised gasp but doesn't return it save for the small pat on Serah's back. In a way, she doesn't think she deserves the hug at all, so after giving a few seconds to linger, Lightning slides out of it and takes a step away.]
I... yeah. I'll come in.
[It's awkward, yeah, but she passes Serah into the room anyway. It looks different from the last time she saw it, when her own judgement was clouded and all she could see was its imperfections that she had missed all the good things about it. All the things that reminded her of its owner, and why a place like this could be so special.
It's... warm.
Lightning pauses in the middle of the room and takes a cursory look around, but her gaze avoids her sister completely.]
[Ah... Lightning still feels a little hesitant, but that's all right. Serah can make her sister feel as comfortable as she can while she's here at least. She watches her sister look around, a stark difference in how she was before when she came in through the window like a weirdo. Her question gets a sad smile in response.]
I like it, but... it's not home. I don't have the lake to wake up to every morning here, or you to share a cup of coffee with, or Yeul to cook with, or Noel to talk to. I just didn't want to hurt anyone by staying at our home, or make you upset again if you came home for anything. I think Daisy would be mad at me if I made her too cold with how I was before.
[She knows she was exuding enough cold to frost over plants and occasionally freeze things, so the worry that she would actually hurt her loved ones and their myriad of animals was very real.]
But Auron has made sure I've been comfortable, and the other guy that's here helping-- uh, Jecht, I think...? Has been kind, too. But it's still not really a home, just... temporary.
[Jecht, huh? Annoying, sure, but she'll make a note to thank him as well as Auron later for taking care of Serah.
Lightning's lips press together, back still turned to Serah, while her gaze continues to wander. It's no home, but she would be remiss to ignore the fact that she's made something of a home while staying with Gladio, having grown used to having him around more... but that's a conversation for them to have another time. For now, her focus is on her sister, even if her body language says otherwise.]
That's good to hear.
[Unintentionally, Lightning's hands reach for her own collarbone and neck, but only briefly.]
[It was really only a matter of time. The gash on her shoulder wasn't as visible, but the bruises are harder to really conceal. Serah knew it was a matter of time before she asked, and also that Lightning was going to be really, really unhappy (or so she's guessing-- she could still surprise her!) She takes a deep breath, and instead of beating around the bush as she did before, with what started her staying in this little not-home, she's just going to say it outright.]
You know how the fog made you kinda... not yourself, or heightened some other emotions you don't normally... tap into, I guess? You weren't the only one who saw me when that was happening, and you weren't the only one I pulled out of it.
[There's a pause, just for a moment for her to gather her own thoughts: blunt, but actually having her thoughts straight, as they really weren't a couple of months ago, would be the best way for this. No stumbling. No messing this up.]
Rokurou came here, he said he was feeling weird. Drew his sword on me, but left before he did anything bad. [He knew enough to know that she wasn't trying to hurt him or anything, but...] I went looking for him. We fought-- with weapons, not just a water balloon fight or paintballs like before when we first met. His emotions got out of control and he caused a rock slide with me caught on the ground that was crumbling. He saved me, but... after, when we took shelter, he had a nightmare or-- or something, he didn't tell me what it was, but... these are from him. Once he came out of it, he... he actually cried, Light, I didn't think he would, but... he did. He wasn't himself, like you weren't. Then he told me he was fine on his own, so I could come back and make sure things were good here, but when I returned, he had gone looking for Gem. And he...
[One of those stupid clones was there, making his injuries far worse than what they were. Even recalling that memory seems to hurt as her eyes start to threaten tears and her voice falters.]
Gem did a number on him. I got off kinda light compared to him, I didn't almost die. I had worse happen.
[Nothing beats Caius stabbing her and actually likely almost killing her, not even a berserk daemon losing his mind or her sister trying to get a rise out of her... but that was a lot for her sister to probably take in, so, she'll let her take all of that in to do with it as she pleases. :') please only punch Rokurou later, but not too hard, he's still recovering!!!]

[There is a moment where there's a spark of rage in Lightning's eyes, but it's short-lived. She wants to be angrier about all of this, especially after everything he's done, and she wants to say that he deserved what he got in the end if what Serah says is true about his encounter with Gem, but she can't bring herself to do it. They had all suffered in some way...
Lightning listens in silence, her arms folding over her chest. Of course Serah would go looking for him, even if it meant putting herself in danger – that's just how she is, always wanting to help others. No matter how much she hates it or how much she would argue, there's one thing that the Farron sisters share in common to a tee, and that's their stubbornness. That doesn't mean Lightning won't scold her.]
That was a stupid idea. You knew it could be dangerous and you went to find him anyway. What would you have done if he didn't come to? You'd have ended up with a lot worse than a few bruises.
[Lightning's seen him fight and has even fought him herself. She knows what he's capable of.]
You were dangerous too, weren't you? You didn't fight me, but going up against you would have been the same, right? I would have kept trying to get through to you too, because you're important to me.
[The most important. The only big sister she has, and she wouldn't want to lose her out to some weird fog making her act the complete opposite of who she usually is.]
And my promise goes for you too, if you ever need it again. You're the only sister I have, and I won't see you lose yourself, so...
[Maybe not too much of an answer; she didn't really think about the what-ifs in that scenario when he left here and she went after him when she was able to. All she could think about was helping him, making sure he was pulled out of what Gem did. The same way that was all she could think about when her sister came in and was trying to get under her skin: she needed to help. She wanted her sister back.]
I just wanted him back the way he should be. I wanted you back the way you should be. I guess it didn't really cross my mind that it would be dangerous, just... that I wanted to help like I promised I would.
[Time for Lightning to get defensive. No matter how much the steam clouded her judgement or her train of thought, and no matter how much it changed her, one thing remained a constant throughout.]
I never wanted to hurt you that way.
[In fact, she never wanted to hurt Serah in any way, but it's hard to say so when she still remembers the kinds of things she said when under its influence. Rokurou, on the other hand, lost control of his will to think for himself from the sounds of it, and wound up injuring her... Yeah, she's still a bit miffed about it.]
No, but I do know what you're capable of. I'm glad you didn't want to actually fight me, I don't think I would have done very well against you, that's all I meant. Rokurou didn't really want to either, once he came out of it, but... the fog was making everyone not themselves, or just what they didn't want to be. I was kinda...
[...kind of a little too.... gung ho on helping people...]
I was kinda weird too. Just in a different way. I think the worst thing you did was come through the window instead of the door like a weirdo.
[...well, no, there was more, at least in what she said, but... she's just going to try to play it off a little.]
Well, that and you scuffed the floor with Chaos. That was terrible to try to clean up.
[Just a little bit of a grin; that's more of a joke because if that was the worst of the things that happened while Lightning was here beyond what she had said, then she got off pretty easy here.]
[Lightning winces when she brings up the crawling through the window. That part she doesn't remember, or she's buried it deep in her subconscious memory and would rather let it lay there forever, but that is most definitely something she would never, ever do. How barbaric.]
Yeah. Let's not talk about that.
[There's a hint of a smile there, but it still doesn't relax her posture or loosen the tension lingering in the air around her.]
I don't know what got into me... or any of us. But if I said anything that hurt you, I'm...
[There's a pause, and she sighs before adding a touch of firmness to her voice.]
[Poor Lightning. Don't worry, Serah thought she was being creepy but now she can look back on it and laugh on it, for the most part. Hopefully it'll be like that for her sister in the future, but she is smiling, so perhaps it's like that already.
The smile fades just a little when Lightning gets serious again. It's not because she's upset about it, but more that she wants to listen to her. It returns when she gets an apology, however, and she just shakes her head.]
It's all right. Really. It did at first, but when I realized that you weren't really yourself and you seemed more to be trying to really get under my skin... I tried to not let it get to me. I know you don't purposefully try to hurt me, and you're my sister-- even if you said something out of your true feelings, you don't mean it in a way to hurt me.
[If anything, she had her own apology she wanted to say to Lightning too.]
But I need to say I'm sorry too. I think I hurt you a couple months ago, and I didn't mean to. The thing with Gladio, I mean. But I was thinking... if we make a new world, what's to say he won't be there too? That way, you don't have to be sad and you can still be happy with him.
[She doesn't want Lightning to be sad over that anymore, so she's going to try to make it better.]
[It's a combination of so many things that Serah's words gets the reaction that it does out of Lightning. In the last month, even longer, she's hurt so many people in different ways, including the two people she loved most in this world, or any world. That's something that she'll never be able to forgive herself for, even if everyone else does. She never meant to hurt them...
So that little spark of hope that Serah offers her is almost overwhelming in a way. Deep down, Lightning always knew that whatever they all have here will come to an end one day, and that was why she couldn't find it in herself to forget what Serah had said, but her emotions are coming in and going in violent tides right now that all Lightning knows to do is to let them out somehow.]
Serah...?
[Tears begin to form in her eyes, and she presses her lips shut to try hiding them. She can't, nor can she allow her sister to see her like this again, so she tugs strolls up and tugs her into her arms.]
[There had been a realization that, while trying to skirt around the issue and use hypothetical situations that she had hurt the person closest to her, and in a way she would never have meant to do when she had been dwelling on everything that had transpired a couple of months ago.
But then she realized who her sister was: Lightning Farron. Etro. Or at least, someone who had inherited Etro's power. She could do anything, she was strong, and when she had a goal in mind, she always made it to the goal. Lightning had done so when she saved Pulse with Snow and the others in order to get her out of the crystal stasis she had gone into, and plenty of other times before that.
So when Lightning tugs her into a hug, she just hugs her sister as tight as she can.]
I know you can. You can do anything, and I know that's true. We'll just make sure we have extra noodles in the house from then on, right?
[Lightning sniffles but remains right where she is.]
I shouldn't have gotten as angry as I did. I just...
[It's hard for her to push away all of her memories with Snow here, in this world, before he'd left. In some strange way, she misses him more than she'd care to admit, and was only trying to protect them both. Because of that, in her head, it had become more about Lightning and what Lightning wanted than it was about Serah.
That's when she pulls away and quickly rubs away her tears before resting her hands on both of Serah's shoulders.]
I know that it's what you want, but...
[There's always a but.]
I need you to know that I can't be okay with it...
[She's not trying to start another fight, and she tries to make it clear with a squeeze of her hands, but this is something that she needs her sister to know and be aware of. She won't be angry anymore, nor will Lightning ignore her any longer, but there are some things she won't be able to see past.]
[She gets it. And no one will ever be able to really fill the Snow-shaped hole in her heart as well as Snow will. There's no question about that.]
And... that's okay too.
[She knows that if she allows herself to be consumed by grief over Snow not being here, she'd only be miserable. And hey, Lightning didn't approve of Snow either, so Serah's going two for two here! She won't say any of this, really not wanting to start a fight again because she's making up with her sister now and she doesn't want to lose her again.]
Just as long as you aren't angry with me, then... that's fine. I just want my sister back.
[In a moment like this, Lightning wants to reassure her that she never really went anywhere, but that would be a lie this time, wouldn't it? There was never truly a threat of either of them losing each other here, but it sure as hell felt like it for a while. Every morning, Lightning would wake up wondering if it would be Serah's last day on the island and she'd have no idea until she went to make amends, but she's thankful now that it never was.]
You gonna go home? This room's a bit stuffy.
[There's absolutely nothing bad about this room, but Lightning Farron's sister deserves the best!!!]
[Hearing that Lightning is going to be talking and laughing again with her gets her to let out a sigh of relief, followed by a relieved smile. The question gets a chuckle and a nod.]
Yeah... but only if you're there too. Are you going home too?
[Because it's not home without Lightning there!]
Daisy will probably yell at us for being gone for so long, you know that right? She may not even talk to us for a while. [Until they had something she wanted, that is.] We'll have to give her extra treats in apology.
[The smile she gives Serah is brief, flickering as she gives her sister's arm a squeeze. Her answer starts off slow, because honestly? She isn't sure how to break it to her, so she's just going to be honest right off the bat.]
I... think I might stay with Gladio a little longer.
[Her cheeks flush a bright pink and when she feels the tips of her ears heat up, she takes a step back.]
If that's okay with you.
[In spite of all the things that have happened, she's been enjoying his company and being in it, especially after Gem's defeat. Somehow, the fight that they had only served to bring them closer once they reconciled, and for once, she'd like to be a little selfish and bask in it.]
Just as long as we can have some time together, even if you visit and we have a slumber party or something while you're still there, then that's fine with me. You should be happy with Gladio, I'm glad you two are doing well.
[She had a feeling that, even with Lightning acting kind of off, Gladio wasn't the type to just throw away everything they had together and would understand. If he had surprised her, Serah would have gone to have a little... talk... with him, so she's glad that wasn't the case!]
[She chuckles under her breath, thankful that Serah is understanding. Of course she's going to visit as much as she's able to. The Eos house is full of smelly boys, including her own boy, and everyone needs a break from that sometimes.]
I don't have too much here, just clothes and Mog and my flowers. I should be all right getting everything back home. Though I'll probably need to clean up my room at home...
[...:') that was kind of left a disaster after everything whoops.]
[And with that, Lightning snatches Mog just as he hovers nearby and walks over to wherever Serah's keeping her bags. She opens one and tries to stuff the moogle inside while he protests and aggressively tries to wriggle himself free.
But that won't be all – Lightning will go home with Serah when she's ready to, and will help with the clean up there, too. She hasn't been back to the house since she visited Noel under the influence of the fog, and so avoiding him for now is in her list of priorities... at least until she's ready to see him and apologize. She'll only return to her "other" home with Gladio when the two of them are satisfied with the cleanup, and it's not without the promise that she'll be seeing her sister again very soon.]
